Indian Rivers and tributaries are considered religious spots and they play a significant role in Indian traditions in different manners. Almost every region of India is blessed with several holy rivers. Indian Rivers play a major part in diversifying the Geography of India. Therefore, this topic is vital from the Exam point of view.
Mostly major rivers of India flow towards the east and drain out into the Bay of Bengal. There are only five rivers that flow from east to west and drain out into the Arabian Sea. We have prepared a list of major rivers and tributaries in India, their length, destination, and the states which are covered by them. 1. The Ganga :

2. Brahmaputra River:

Destination: The Bay of Bengal.

3. Yamuna River:
Source: Yamunotri Glacier, Champasar Glacier.
Length: 1,376 km
Destination: Merges with Ganga, Triveni Sangam.
Tributaries: Tons, Chambal, Hindon, Betwa and Ken, Hindon, Sharda.
4. Indus River:
Source: Gar Tsangpo, Tibetan plateau china, Enter India at Jammu and Kashmir.
Length: Length: 3,180 km
Destination: Arabian sea near Sindh in Pakistan.
Tributaries: Beas Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab, Jhelum.
